Good question. When considering breast augmentation, you and Dr. Newman have 4 main decisions to make: 1) The size of the breast implant; 2) The choice of saline vs. silicone breast implants; 3) Whether to place the implants over vs. under the muscle and 4) The location of the incision.
Dr Newman will talk to you extensively about this choice of breast enlargement. Typically, when doing breast augmentation, we suggest that you choose the submuscular (under the muscle) placement if you have saline implants or your natural breast tissue is thin. Choose the subglandular (over the muscle) placement for your breast enlargement if you want silicone implants or require a breast lift. For many women, either choice is a good option.
Your new look will bring greater freedom with fashion and clothing that fits perfectly and will help give your self-image a much-needed boost! Dr. Newman feels that attention to detail (both in terms of patient evaluation and detail in surgical technique) is important in achieving patient wishes. Breast augmentation is usually performed as an outpatient. Its recommended to take a week off from work. Generally minimal exercise is permitted for two to three weeks after breast enhancement surgery. Bruising and swelling is generally very minimal.
