Skin Removal After Weight Loss

You have worked very hard and over a great period of time to get your weight down and have achieved success. Nothing feels better than to get to your goal! Whether you have done that through surgery or by yourself with calorie restriction and exercise, you have gotten to a safer and happier place in your life. Keeping trim is by far the most important thing people can do for themselves to ensure their own health. Less weight on our bodies means less pressure and wear and tear on our joints and other tissues.

You may notice that as you have made this dramatic transformation some parts of your body may not have achieved the same great results as others.  Loose tissues can affect the way we see ourselves in the mirror and it is a good idea to discuss these changes with a Plastic Surgeon who has  a great deal of experience in treating the areas of concern. An open discussion of all the possible alternatives can help you on your way to achieve an ideal body form with smooth flat surfaces and beautiful lines.

Skin Removal After Bariatric Surgery

The most common surgery for post-bariatric and other weight loss surgery patients is a tummy-tuck (abdominoplasty). This procedure must be modified for the weight loss patient as the effects of the tissue changes and the bariatric surgery itself may affect how a tummy tuck needs to be performed. Other surgeries weight loss patients frequently have are arm lifts, thigh lifts, and face lift and neck lift surgery. Each patient has a different shape and has different needs and so it is very important to thoroughly evaluate each patient and not use a “one surgery fits everyone” approach. Discussing the alternatives and their upsides and downsides goes a long way in getting patients to their goals.
