Breast Augmentation 59

Breast Augmentation Surgery is often performed in slender patients because they are often small breasted. And after childbirth and breast feeding, breast size further diminishes. Patients seek consultation for augmentation because they want to feel and have a more feminine breast shape.  There are a variety of sizes shapes and fills available today and so it is best to have a thorough discussion with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon as to which is best for you and your wishes. Often, slender patients do not wish a large implant but rather a size that fits well to their chest width. A smaller implant also works better for patients who are active and participate in fitness type activities.

Types of Breast Implants

Breast Implants have been in high demand since their development in the early 1950’s. Initially, both saline and silicone gel implants were made available. Ultimately, breast implant manufacturers recognized the need for firmer implants as they have some benefits in certain patients and so began to produce implants with thicker silicone gel fillers. The Gummy Implant is one such implant that is denser than the basic gel implant. Benefits may include a fuller upper pole and a lesser chance for visible or palpable rippling.
