The patient is a 68 year old man who felt that his eyes made him look old and sought consultation with a board certified eyelid surgeon. At his eyelid surgery, excess upper eyelid tissue was removed while preserving eyelid health. The fat bags of the lower eyelid were removed from inside the lower eyelid and at the same time, lower lid position was strengthened to preserve its youthful appearance. He was very happy with his cosmetic result and felt also that he looked much younger. He also had a face lift at the same time.
Eyelid surgery is very gratifying because not only is excess skin, fat and wrinkles removed but also the healthy landmarks of the eyelid are preserved. Lid support can be improved and therefore dry eyes can be improved with blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) techniques.
