RHINOPLASTY

The patient is a young woman who complained that her nose was too wide and that especially her tip was too wide. She also didn’t like the shape of the tip and wished to have a closed rhinoplasty. There were no breathing problems.

Rhinoplasty Results

At the patients procedure, which was performed under general anesthesia,  the tip was upwardly rotated and refined and then the bump on the bridge removed so that there was a straight line to the bridge on side view. The nose was also narrowed over its entire length. The patient as very happy with her new nose.

Her original nasal shape was such that her nose appeared wide and that harmonized with a wider face making the face appear wider than it actually was. Also the length of the nose was short as compared to the height of the face. Since the nasal tip was drooping slightly, the tip was upwardly rotated to correct the drooping. This upward rotation of the tip also shortens the nose which would also make the nose appear shorter and therefore wider and so the tip was only rotated upwards slightly to remedy the drooping of the tip.

The bridge of the nose was changed from the bump to straight and not curved. If more bump had been removed, that would reinforce the curves in her face and make the nose look too “cutesy ” or too small. Preserving the straight line of the bridge creates a softer nasal appearance but with straight lines from the eyebrows to the tip.

“Nose Jobs” can effect change and even make the patient appear quite different after the procedure but they should lead towards facial harmony and smoothness. It is also good to create separations of the parts of the nose but there should be a seamless transition from one part to the other as in this patient.
