BROW LIFT

The patient is an 82 year old woman who complained of difficulty seeing from excess upper eyelid skin hanging over her eye. She thought it was the excess skin that required removal. On examination, the brows were in a very low position and when manually raised, reduced almost all of the upper eyelid skin so it was no longer apparent. It was recommended that the patient first have a brow lift to see if that would resolve the problem with her vision. Should there remain excess upper eyelid skin after the brow lift, the residual skin could easily be removed in a second procedure. The patient elected to have a brow lift and was so happy about her result that she didn’t want or require further treatment.

Postoperatively, the patient’s swelling went down quickly and she was back to her usual daily activities at four days. She was very happy that her vision was a lot better and she noted that her appearance was much improved and that she looed much less older. She also noted that the folds of skin in the areas outside her eyes towards her temples were much impoved. Brow lifts can erase folds and skin irregularities and create smooth lines and surfaces in the upper third of the face to lend beauty to that area and a youthful appearance.
