Breast Augmentation Temecula

Dr. David Newman has performed over 20,000 breast implant surgeries which include primary (first time surgery) and revision surgery. Patients may wish to have more surgery because they have developed problems related to the first surgery or haven’t gotten what they wished from that first surgery. Pregnancy and just even the passage of time may have caused changes to the breasts that might require a “tune up” second surgery.
This may be as simple as a patient wanting to change their breast size. But sometimes, the simple passage of time and its effect on the breasts may necessitate additional surgery such as a breast lift or to change the shape or level of the pocket that holds the implant. Such changes to the pocket inside that holds the implant may make it so that patients don’t need to have a breast lift and so no lift scars are placed on the breast and the surgery can be done through old scars from the first surgery. Dr. Newman has developed these “internal pocket modification surgeries” in his practice over the past 25 years specifically for the purpose of avoiding unnecessary scarring.
He specializes in not only breast augmentation surgery but in revision surgery to raise the implant without a breast lift. Many patients who had breast augmentation in Orange county have moved to Temecula and Riverside county and have problems with their implants because the pocket was made too large for the implant or the space was made too low on the chest and the implant doesn’t have support resulting in falling of the implant and a low implant. Other patients have had the pocket made too wide in the first surgery and when they lie down the implants fall to the sides. Restoring the implant to its best position not only centers the implant behind the nipple and so corrects some nipple placement issues but also places the breast mound higher up on the chest. This fills the upper pole of the breast to create a youthful appearance for the breast. These pocket modification techniques developed by Dr. Newman restore the breast to the shape it was when patients were younger and with this new shape comes a new feeling of confidence. It’s suddenly easier not to have to wear a bra and there are new clothing options too.

How to Avoid Having More Breast Surgery?

As previously mentioned, the simple passage of time can cause the breasts to change and also the breasts that have been enhanced with an implant to change and this may necessitate more surgery. And as patients get older, they may simply wish to change the size of their breasts so they are more appropriate for their age. But there are simple rules to follow with first surgery that decrease the chance that further surgery might be needed.
Dr. Newman feels that two factors overwhelmingly increase the chance for more surgery. They are the choice of an implant that is too large for a person’s “frame” and the need for a breast lift. In both cases, patients have a choice regarding the size of the implant that can lessen the chance for future shape problems. The basic idea is that when implants are placed under the pectoralis muscle, the muscle supports the implant and almost always prevents its further drooping. This muscle has a certain width and so can support the implant across its entire width but when the implant is wider than the width of the muscle there is less support. And, as mentioned above, some patients have their first breast implant surgery performed with a muscle detachment so a larger implant can be placed but over time the heavier implant, along with the lack of support from the detached muscle leads to a lower breast with less fullness and even emptiness of the upper part of the breast. This leads to an aged appearance and a loss of fullness and firmness.
