Taking in the big city

Royal Facial

$85.00 for one hour

This treatment is recommended for those with normal to dry skin. This facial starts with a double cleansing, exfoliation, skin analysis, cautious extractions and customized twenty-minute relaxation massage of your face, neck and shoulders. A hydrating mask with an arm and hand massage follows, and finishes with a glowing sea serum, moisturizer, and sunscreen. This facial will leave you feeling relaxed and refreshed.

A facial cleans, exfoliates and nourishes the skin to promote clear and well-hydrated skin. A facial is the second most popular spa treatment after massage. It is sometimes called a “deep-cleansing facial” or “deep-pore cleansing” facial because of the extractions performed.

Your face isn’t the only body part that needs a facial! Experience cleansing, exfoliating, and an analysis of the skin on your back to eliminate skin issues like cancer. A massage, mask and body lotion will be applied for clear, glowing skin.

A back facial is a skin treatment that is formulated specifically for the back. Some spas refer to a back facial as a “bacial.” Back facials utilize many of the techniques used in skin treatments for the face, and clarify and soften the skin of the back while providing a deep moisturizing treatment that will leave the client with a healthy, glowing back. Back facials for both men and women are available in a wide range of formulations that target specific skin types or issues such as clogged pores and acne on the back.

What Can I Expect?

Typically, a back facial starts with a deep steaming which is designed to open the pores and soften the skin. An aesthetician may use various treatments such as an exfoliating scrub to remove dead skin from the back, and he or she may also perform extractions on clogged pores. After steaming and exfoliation, the back can be covered in a rich, moisturizing mask and some aestheticians also offer massage to release tension in the back.

Skin treatments such as glycolic peels and dermabrasion are also available for the back depending on your skin type and any skin issues which you may be experiencing. Spa staff are usually happy to recommend various treatments for you, and they should also be able to inform you about ingredients used in back facial treatments. You should also disclose any allergies to the spa staff, as peculiar ingredients can pop up in skincare treatments.

THE BASIC STEPS OF A FACIAL

  • Cleansing. A facial begins with a cleansing with cotton pads or sponges and a product chose for your skin type (normal, dry, oily, combination, sensitive, mature).
  • Skin Analysis. The esthetician covers your eyes and looks at your skin through a brightly lit magnifying lamp that reveal various skin conditions.
  • Exfoliation using a mechanical or chemical exfoliant. Mechanical exfoliation has a gritty texture and usually happens while a steam vapor is directed at your face. A chemical peel can be a stand along treatment or part of the facial. It is generally an “upgrade” and done in a series.
  • Extraction of blackheads or whiteheads if you want it and need it. This may cause discomfort on thin or skin with active acne.
  • Facial massage using classic strokes to both relax you and stimulate your skin and facial muscles.
  • A facial mask targeted to your skin type (dry, oily, combination, sensitive, mature) and condition.
  • Application of toners and protective creams.
  • Advice on home skincare
Who Gives a Facial?

A professional facial should be given by a licensed esthetician with special training in skin care.

How Much Does a Facial Cost?

A facial usually starts around $85. Masks and serums can increase the price.

How Often Should I Get A Facial?

Frequency varies from person to person. Ideally, get a facial monthly because that’s how long it takes the skin to regenerate. Try to have a facial at least four times a year, as the season changes. You may need it more frequently if you are trying to clear up a case of acne, especially at the beginning. However for normal skin types, once a month is recommended as you can overdue it with more frequent treatments.
